Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue is dedicated to rescuing cats that are scheduled to die in kill shelters.
Thousands of healthy, friendly cats are euthanized every year because they have no where else to go, and rescues such as ours are often their last hope.
Some Municipal pounds and Animal Control Centres can only keep cats 7-10 business days and if not claimed by their owners within that time period they become property of the Animal Control.
It is often a lack of space that determines their fate, and most never get a second chance. A very small percentage of cats are ever claimed by their previous owners.
Homeless strays that have been abandoned and left to fend for themselves often die of starvation, illness, predators, traffic fatalities or from the elements and are in urgent need of help.
The average life span of a cat abandoned to the streets is less than 2 years. This life saving work is critical for many of these warm, loving & affectionate souls whose only crime was being born,
no longer wanted or finding themselves lost or abandoned. Cats who would otherwise meet with certain death.
We are a proud member of Helping Homeless Pets

Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue is a not- for-profit, humane, Registered charity, made up of a few volunteers who simply love cats.
We do not have overhead or paid staff, we volunteer our time and many of us hold full time jobs and manage a busy family life. Adoption fees and donations go directly towards helping the cats that come into our program.
Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue was founded in December 2000, after the founder of the rescue spotted some young kittens living behind an industrial plaza in Scarborough.
After successfully trapping these kittens and finding a rescue group that took them into their care, she then volunteered her time and helped trap several cats that were found living in this colony, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and helped found homes for many of the friendly ones. The "feral" ones were released back to the site and a feeding station was set up with insulated barrels for protection against the elements as part of the TNRM (Trap, Neuter, Release, Maintain) program. Working tirelessly socializing the shy cats to bring them out of their shell so they could be adopted into loving homes and after helping a friend trap and fix several barn cats that were living on the property (about 18 in total) some of which were tame, friendly cats most likely pets that had been dumped by their owners she felt the need to create her own rescue group.
During a routine search on line at an Animal Control, a beautiful cat was marked "URGENT". Naive and curious about the "URGENT" tag, a call was made to the pound to ask why this cat was marked "URGENT". She was told that this cat was pregnant and she needed to be rescued in the next few days before she gave birth. Immediately, she made her way up to the shelter to rescue this sweetheart and ended up taking another 7 adults that same day and Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue was officially born! This beautiful lady we named "CASSIE" and she was our first pound rescue and our first mommy to be!!
After visiting the shelter and seeing all those lovely cats & kittens awaiting their fate, we felt the urgent need to help some of those unfortunate cats get a second chance at life. It is heart wrenching to go into the shelter or pound, seeing all those sweet innocent faces and hearing all those desperate cries for attention, knowing only a few lucky ones will get a second chance . It hardly seems like dent is being made, but for the special few that are spared, it makes the world of difference to them.
